Before you touch a sled or a wall ball, you ski 1,000 m — and HYROX mandates the Concept2 SkiErg with no approved alternative. That is actually good news for training: the machine you buy is the machine you race.

HYROX uses the Concept2 SkiErg at every event, so there is no "competition-accurate vs close enough" trade-off here the way there is with sleds. Two configurations, same flywheel and PM5 monitor:
| Wall mount | With floor stand | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | You own a wall / studs | Renters, or a machine you move |
| Footprint | ~48 cm × 41 cm at the base | ~60 cm × 127 cm at the base |
| Price | $850 | ~$1,085 |
| Machine weight | ~21 kg | ~21 kg + 16 kg stand |
| Race legal | Yes | Yes |
Prices are Concept2 list, checked September 2026. Concept2 does not sell a cheaper "HYROX edition" — a used SkiErg is the same machine, and they hold value well.
Ergs — Concept2 SkiErg (wall mount) ($850) · Concept2 SkiErg + floor stand (~$1,085)
Also worth owning — Concept2 PM5 accessories (smartphone cradle, heart-rate belt)
